What temperature should a Rheem hot water tank be set at? ›

While you are allowed to set your water heater's temperature anywhere from around 32.2 degrees Celcius to 65.5 degrees celsius, it is recommended not to set your heat too high. The Consumer Product Safety Commission, or the CPSC, suggests setting your hot water cylinder at no more than 49 degrees celsius.

Modern Rheem systems use two styles of date encoded in the serial number. Style 1 starts with a letter followed by the week and year of manufacture. W011012345 would be manufactured in January of 2010. Style 2 follows the letter in the middle of the serial number with the week and year of manufacture.

The triangle or “Hot” setting should be 120 degrees. Past the triangle, you will typically see settings marked “A,” “B,” “C,” and “Very Hot.” Each subsequent setting above “Hot” increases the temperature by 10 degrees. That means “A” is 130 degrees, “B” is 140, and so forth.

120 degrees Fahrenheit is the safety recommendation against scalding, but 140° is the common default setting. Most experts agree that anything below 120 degrees creates a risk for bacteria to develop inside your water heater from stagnant water, such as legionella that causes Legionnaire's disease.

The recommended setting for this control is 60°C/140°F. (Storing hot water at temperatures of less than 55°C is not advisable due to potential for Legionnaires disease). If the water coming out of your taps is too hot then check this control as it could be set too high.

Find your condensing unit and search for a data plaque or sticker on the side. You should see a model number and a string of numerals and letters. There should also be an even, two-digit number – which indicates the AC tonnage of the unit. This number is typically between 18 and 60.

Like most air conditioners, a Rheem AC unit will last around 15 to 20 years, sometimes more or less. The lifespan of an air conditioner is highly dependent on maintenance and repairs, as a well-maintained unit is more likely to last longer than a poorly-maintained model.

The size, or capacity, of the heat pump is expressed in either nominal tons or British Thermal Units (BTU). One ton of capacity is equivalent to 12,000 BTU per hour or 3.5 kW.

Potential Causes: Faulty heating elements, a malfunctioning thermostat, sediment build-up, or an undersized unit. Solutions: Adjust the thermostat, inspect for leaks, verify the pilot light, check the circuit breaker, or consider a system upgrade.

The System Is Blocked or Clogged

Many models use a system of three blinks that are followed by a pause and then another series of three blinks. Some heaters, like Rheem models, may use a blinking blue light instead of a red one to indicate this issue.

The best temperature setting for a hot water heater is between 120 and 140 degrees. Below 120 degrees, bacteria can develop in the stagnant water sitting in the tank. Above 140 degrees, the water is so hot that you and your family members can be at risk for scalding in as little as two seconds.
