Nutrition + FAQ - Recipe Diaries (2024)

DISCLAIMER:

I am not affiliated with WW formerly known as Weight Watchers in any way. I am just a member who likes to create WW recipes and share them with everyone.

All of my recipes should be updated to the new myWW points program: Blue, Green, and Purple. They are listed in the notes section.

Popular FAQs I routinely get...

I didn't get the same exact points?!

Please do not use the nutrition calculator in the WW App. Use the recipe builder to figure out points for recipes. Their nutrition calculator doesn't calculate zero point foods properly. I get many questions from people asking why they didn't get the same amount of points that I did for my recipes or what they are doing wrong. Different brands also have different points for food so that that could also be an issue.

I work really hard to figure out points for each recipe and it really bothers me when someone will comment and say the points are different from what the recipe states. If you get a different number for points when you plug it into the recipe builder use your own judgment and don't argue with food bloggers in the comments.

What sites do you recommend to check nutritional info?

I use sites like MyFitnesspal and Crononmeter to figure out nutrition info and smart points with the WW app. If you are counting calories or following the WW program it is best to have both of these tools if you make any recipe that you find online.

Where do I locate information on recommended serving sizes?

Servings sizes can be found at the very end of the instructions list or at the bottom of the recipe card where it says serving size. I have gone through 500 of my recipes and have added serving size info to them. I still have a little bit more to update. If there are no points listed or serving sizes it is not a WW recipe.

Divide the Recipe Into Servings

The number of servings the recipe makes will be listed in the recipe card on my page.

Do you recommend a scale to weigh ingredients?

It is best to have a food scale so you can weigh dishes out, but I don't even do this sometimes. After I'm completely done taking pictures and videos for my recipe, I'll get out a large enough bowl that I know will be big enough for the soup or pasta. I'll take out a measuring cup and start counting out how many servings are in the recipe, then I transfer that to the bowl instead of dirtying up a lot of dishes.

Do you use any sugar-free products in your recipes?

I try not to use any sugar-free products in my recipes because they make me sick and give me a lot of stomach issues. If you want to use sugar-free this or fat-free that go ahead and use those as substitutes.

Substitutions and Diets

Can I use a different ingredient other than what the recipe calls for?

I make my recipes based on what I LIKE. Of course, you might want to change an ingredient in the recipe and by all means, go ahead and do that instead. If you have a way of making the recipe fewer points then do it. I'm not stopping you am I? 🙂

Can this recipe be made for a different diet?

Yes it can, if you know a good substitution for whatever diet you're on for a certain ingredient feel free and use it. You don't have to ask me. 😉
