I had to put my beautiful boy to sleep tonight. We are relatively. Ew to the area and I hadn't taken him to the vet yet here. I knew he was not well but thought it was just another bad bout of colitis. Dr. House did tests and we found a fast growing cancer that caused him to bleed internally. He was in a great deal of pain. She probably knew it was his time from the minute she heard how weak his heart was. But she spent so much time and care on both of us and helped me to make the decision to end his suffering and my heart saw in his eyes that he was ready. I still shocked. I thought I'd be bringing him home tonight. But I so grateful for the perfect way she handled this that through my tears, and such sorrow of the loss of my beautiful boy that I had to express my thanks. I was so impressed with the Cherrydale Veterinary Clinic staff. My cat Contessa had been having wheezing breathing throughout the night and when I called the clinic the next morning, they made room for us to be seen by a vet that day. I also brought in my other cat Ruby just for a checkup. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the receptionist who helped get the door for me. I filled out a short bit of paperwork and had their records sent over without an issue. Dr. C of the clinic had reviewed their health records and had a good understanding of their background before even seeing us. We were seen promptly with less than 5 minutes of waiting. After the exams, Dr. C advised of some remedies to alleviate Contessa's breathing problems. I went home and she had another wheezing attack that night. Dr. C had told me to record a video of the wheezing in action, so I did, and I forwarded it to the clinic. The clinic followed up with me in the morning and advised me to bring her in for a steroid shot. We went back in and she was given the shot. I was asked if I wanted to have X-rays done to further investigate. Thorough explanations were made throughout the process of what to look for and expect so that I could make an informed decision regarding my pet's health. I opted for the X-rays but there was no pressure to have them done. The doctor respected my choices and helped me understand the underlying issues. I am happy to report that Contessa is doing much better with the prescribed treatment. I am SO pleased to have found this vet clinic for my pets. We have been to quite a few veterinarians over the years with moving around, but I have never been more impressed than I was with this clinic. Highly recommend! Read Less

We are very impressed with the level of care. The staff are wonderful. They manage to be caring, attentive and laid back. Everyone seems happy to be working there. We see Dr. Catabagan and love her. Good lord, if you live in the Northern Virginia area and you are focused on the cost of vet care, then move away. Everything is expensive here. But I would not have taken my girl anywhere else. Took our Black Lab in on a Sunday after a trip to the dog park. He had part of his ear bitten apart by another dog. Dr. Lesky was his Dr. And she was excellent! We also have a 4 month old female that was scheduled to get spayed at our regular vet but cancelled and rescheduled for Dr. Lesky to do her surgery. Dr. Lesky will also be taking care of our 7 year old cat. We were impressed with the front desk and all the vet techs as well. Such an unfortunate incident at the dog park, but it worked out that we found a well trained, caring and personal vet to take our pets to. Read Less

I had just come back from vacation when my cat became very ill and I had to find somewhere to see him asap. Most places are closed early if even open on the weekends so I was very happy to see they were open till 8pm! The staff was very very nice and was very pleasant with my cat and I. I am very grateful for Cherrydale. I adopted my chihuahua mix on a Saturday, and as a first-time dog owner, panicked when he displayed symptoms of kennel cough. After calling about 10 different vets, Cherrydale was the only place that was able to see me the next day, Sunday. The staff was super friendly over the phone and in-person. Dr. Kiki Christian saw my dog, and she was also very nice and knowledgable. She listened to what I had to say, counseled me super well on what to expect as a new dog-owner, and prescribed the proper medication for my dog. A week later, he was all better! I have since e-mailed the clinic to ask additional questions about my pup and they always respond in a timely and informative manner. The only downside is this place does seem a little pricier than others, but they did see me on super short notice and included a complimentary nail trimming which my dog desperately needed, so I can't complain! This place is absolutely amazing. The entire staff is wonderful with animals and truly love their job. The vets are very knowledgeable and have never tried to upsale me, or asked to run a million tests. They take their time with explanations and always make sure you understand/are comfortable with the treatment plan. I've met all the vets in my several years here and and they are all great.Luckily, I've only needed to take my cat there twice (outside of routine check-ups). Both times the vet accurately diagnosed her in office, which can be very hard with cats.With physicals they've personally called with test results and emailed me after visits to make sure things were ok. The prices are a bit higher than I've paid in the past, but not crazy (my bill from the last visit was $120, which was a problem visit with imaging or labs - not a check-up). I promise, the money is worth it. I would not take my fur baby anywhere else, even if I moved out of the immediate area.I've had my cat for 12 years, and these vets are the best she's ever been to. I absolutely LOVE Cherrydale Veterinary Clinic. From the minute I walk in the door, the employees at the front desk greet me with a smile and make me feel welcome. Dr. Van den Berg is the vet my dog and I normally see and she is absolutely fantastic! She is friendly, knowledgeable and truly cares for you pet. The vet tech's are also awesome and beyond helpful when my dog needs to get a shot or needs an injury looked at. Whenever I have a question, I am always able to call and ask for advice. The receptionists will go above and beyond to help and transfer you to an available doctor. For example, I just got off the phone with Daniel. I had a question about the new food I am starting for my dog. Although there was not an available veterinarian I could speak with, he took the time to get all of my information, questions and concerns and within 30 min, I received a call back with everything I needed! So helpful! And although we normally see Dr. Van den Berg, I have also booked appointments with the other veterinarians and they are all amazing as well. I recommend anyone that is looking for a vet to go here, you will not be disappointed. Read Less

Dr. Sunny House Timke is AMAZING!I truly love how smart she is and how fearless she is around my dog. I have a very scared and therefore aggressive pitbull. Dr. Timke took him as a patient and simply told me to muzzle him. I was so worried no one would take him as a patient, but she did. The rates are sky high and more expensive than 90% of the other places, but Dr. Timke gets my dog and treats him right even though he growls the ENTIRE dog check up.I'll take high rates for someone who isn't scare of my dog AND treats him right. A long overdue review, but better late than never! We brought our newly adopted dog here in 2014 as our regular vet office was closed, and he was in serious pain. Thankfully Cherrydale was able to get us in for an "emergency" visit during normal office hours. The check-in process was quick, but front desk personnel, while nice enough, weren't particularly friendly. We were seen right away by Dr. Boughanem, who immediately put us at ease. After a quick and gentle examination, he diagnosed our pup with a slipped neck disc (due to cervical disc disease) and administered a Rimadyl injection for faster pain relief, in addition to pain pills for use at home. I really appreciated that the Dr. didn't push for x-rays or expensive procedures, but instead recognized the problem and managed the pain accordingly. Our dog perked up soon after being given the meds, and has since been free of flare-ups. It is expensive, which is part of the reason we opted not to make them our regular vet after adopting our 2nd dog in 2015 (not sure what people expect - the office is sandwiched between several of the most expensive Arlington neighborhoods). During 2013-2015, we brought our dog here for his annual exam which was not unreasonable at $89. Given their longer office hours - open until 9 pm weekdays and 8 pm on weekends- we've utilized them a handful of times when our dogs needed to be seen right away and we couldn't wait for our normal vet to open. In addition to Dr. Boughanem, we've seen Dr. Meko and Dr. Catbagan, both of whom were wonderful. The level of care here is extremely high, and while pricier than surrounding vets, I won't hesitate to bring my dogs back here if the need arises. Read Less

This veterinary office provided good care for my pet but charges 2-4 times more than other places. The veterinarians at this office seemed to be in competition with one another trying to get me to make appointments specifically with them. I have gone to another practice which has been fantastic, both in terms of the level of care and cost. If you're not satisfied with both, I would encourage you to shop around. I still continue to get spam from Cherrydale even though I have opted out and flagged their email address as spam in my gmail account. Their trick is to change the handle (everything after the @ sign) so that my spam filter doesn't recognize the email address because it's different every time. Their unsubscribe option doesn't work after trying several times after continuing to receive their emails. Read Less

Their staff and techs are friendly, caring and efficient. Every single one of their veterinarians is fantastic and I trust my Great Dane and cat to them. I would give it zero stars if I could. I have been here twice but my husband and his family have used this vets for years. I went there recently to board my cats overnight while I was getting work done in the house. I came in a crying mess and said I only have one cat with me as the other cat went missing. Absolutely no sympathy or anything...which is frustrating as it is their job to offer sympathy. I boarded my cat there and was asked to sign a piece of paper, the receptionist explained that it was to complete an exam which is necessary for boarding. I went back the next day and told my cats stay was $280.... they did a rabies vaccination and some other things. My cat is an indoor cat and does not need these injections. They never called to ask if they could do these things, they just did it....their service once expressed annoyance was appalling. It was the same woman that was there when I brought my cat in the night before and she did not ask how I was feeling or if we found out cat... how hard is it to ask?! We also have a bearded dragon that stayed in a place in Alexandria, when we picked him up we told him we had lost our cat. We were presented with suggestions and sympathy. The next day they even called to ask if we found our cat and if they can help in anyway. This just made me realize how terrible cherrydale vets is. My husbands family have been coming here for so many years but we have told them all about our experience and they never want to come here again. Some people will say "oh great I am glad my pet is all up to date with vaccinations etc and I am glad you did that, I will pay that big bill yes!" Especially in the cherrydale area, but cherrydale vets should NOT assume that someone will just pay it. They should call and ask first. We literally could have brought a hotel room at the Ritz for one night and just put our cat in there and it would have been the same price as the vet stay for 18 hours...will never go back to this place and I will do anything in my power to make sure others I met and know do not go back there either. That bill and poor customer service was the last thing I needed to deal with after losing my cat... Read Less

What an amazing place! From the staff at the front desk, to the techs, to the extraordinary doctors. Friendly, courteous and hearts as big as the moon. I wouldn't trust my dogs health to anyone else. Dr. House....I can't say enough good things about her. When I had to put my Golden Retriever down, Dr. House was just so caring and understanding. Wow! I am glad I decided to call in advance to check the price of neutering my kitten. Although the care I received at Cherrydale has been good, I can't understand why it would cost $710 for neutering a 5-month old kitten when all neighboring vets charge approximately $200-$250. How ridiculous is that! I can't believe Cherrydale never shared this price in advance when I had this appointment scheduled over 2 months ago. I find this clinic money hungry more than caring about my pet's well being. I ended up cancelling the appointment because no one needs to spend $400 more on the same exact procedure you can get else where. Read Less

The care at Cherrydale Vet is great, but if you don't want unreasonable designer prices for vet care do NOT go here. The cost for neutering your dog at Cherrydale is roughly $1200!!! When we called around to different clinics in our neighborhood -- they all quoted us at roughly $700. I asked Cherrydale why the prices were so high and no one had an answer. They didn't even plan on telling me the price in advance... I had scheduled the appointment for neutering months before and the week of decided to ask the price. They mark up prices for regular medicine as well as frontline and heartguard. There are tons of great vets in the area -- so I would highly recommend you go elsewhere.In other news, we recently switched to Clarendon Animal Care and love it. When we scheduled the neutering, the same day they sent us an approximate invoice breakdown with the price for everything in detail. Again - the vets are great at Cherrydale, but I have never seen such a price markup in all my life for dog care!!! Go elsewhere and save yourself the money. Read Less

Thank you!The vet was great, great bedside manners about my fears and was super doting to my puppy--but the good ends there...Her supporting staff was just the WORST.Whoever was at the front desk didn't listen to anything I said... Just spaced out, not like I was basically having a panic attack. I had to repeat everything for her--she didn't seem concerned at all.But the vet assistant, he was the worst! He manhandled her injury! He made her wince. I couldn't believe how unprofessional, rude, and inconsiderate it was. He basically asked "is this where she was bit?" I said yes... Then he grabbed and squeezed at it---um, excuse me? That's NOT the gentle behavior I expect from someone working with animals... I even said something to him about the way he was handling her, and he looked at me and didn't say a word!! Own up, dude! You were being lazy and spaced out because it was 9 o'clock and closing time on a Friday! DON'T make this your go-to vet.. only go if you have to (they have extended hours compared to others in Arlington, and open on Sunday's) and be prepared... You've been warned... Read Less

In the spring of 2015 my 19 yr old cat's life was nearing its end and I brought her in, resigned that I would be putting her down that day. The vet could have easily agreed, but very frankly told me that she thought all hope was not lost and after a very clear discussion about costs and possible outcomes I left her in their care for several days. She made a significant but not complete recovery, one that let me share a few more months with my longtime companion. Later when things worsened again, I was again given the frank explanation that the same solution was unlikely to work again, they could have easily just taken my money. I will forever be thankful for those few precious extra months to say goodbye on our terms and the kindness not to string me along when it really was over. Read Less

I'v been with them for a year with my cat. First 6 months with all vaccinations were ok but after that when I reached back two times with concerns they didn't give me the proper help. My cat had ear mites from new kitten I got and when I brought him to the clinic they said it was spring allergies and gave him a medicine which made his condition worse and got his eye swallowed. I had few more bad experiences at this clinic before as well.They charge more than most other vet clinics but give very poor care. Read Less

I rarely write reviews, but like another reviewer I read some of the bad reviews for Cherrydale and I also felt compelled to give my experience. I try to deal exclusively with one doctor and Dr. House has been taking care of my cats for the past year. She is AWESOME. She is a multi-cat owner herself and always gives great advice and has so much personal experience that asking her any question about behavior she always knows the answer! Yes, I think they are expensive but veterinary care IS expensive. I took my old cat I had to Caring Hands when she was alive and that was just as expensive if not more and there was no personal touch, no individualized feeling of care, it was a lot more generic/bigger operation. I enjoy the community/small town feeling of Cherrydale. I've never experienced rudeness in the staff, I've never had anyone not be upfront with me about pricing, although I am the type of person who will ask for a complete price breakdown before going so I know what I'm getting into. I've enjoyed working with them and highly recommend using them. Also, if you're worried about cost then get pet health insurance. That will significantly cut down the cost of your annual visits and give you peace of mind that if something major happens you're at least partially covered and can better afford caring for an animal. People think pets are a novelty that anyone can just have or gift...but they aren't. They are lifelong companions, friends, family members, they are a commitment to a life that deserves your utmost care and attention and if you have to complain about the cost to care for them, then maybe you should reconsider your decision to invite one to share your home and your life with you. #ijs Read Less

Pretty happy with Cherrydale Vet. We have taken 3 dogs to them since we moved to this area years ago. Used them to address health issues and for boarding when we travel. Felt like they have provided good care. The vets there take time to speak with you and answer your questions - we never feel rushed. The only downside? They're a little on the expensive side but this is Arlington - everything here is expensive. Read Less

Our dog Marley goes to Cherrydale Veterinary Clinic for his typical vet visits, along with boarding and acupuncture with Dr. Catbagan.Acupuncture has done wonders for Marley and has helped him recover from a compressed nerve in his spine, which was paralyzing his rear limbs. After acupuncture, Marley has more range of motion and more feeling than before the spinal compression. I highly recommend Dr. Catbagan's services. Read Less

Wow -- they are so great.I took my two cats in for a regular checkup, but also because I was pretty sure one of them had developed asthma. They confirmed the asthma with x-ray right there, and even double checked with a radiologist that was on call to look at the scans.The doctors here are friendly and smart, and I feel like the whole staff, doctors included, were conscientious of the fact that vet visits are *expensive* and that owners are constantly weighing the pros and cons of every treatment and service. There was zero pressure from the staff at Cherrydale.While it was more expensive than a simple checkup with vaccines, my bill at the end of the day was not outrageous and totally within range of what I would have expected.The next day one of my cats was lethargic and not eating, and I was worried about him since he just got vaccines, and when I called Cherrydale I was able to talk to a doctor about it which really put me at ease, and (of course) my cat is feeling much better now.Bottom line is I was really impressed with Cherrydale Vet Clinic, and I definitely trust them to take care of my pets.
