General Info
Bandit Camp is the play to be if you want to gamble or fly, using a helicopter purchased from Air Wolf. It has a Recycler, a drone shop, and many other amenities that can make it a reprieve from the harsh world of Rust. It is located in a swamp and made up of several cabin-like buildings and a downed barge, all enshrouded in a thin layer of fog that gives it an eerie and sinister feeling.
This monument has a lot in common with other safe zones in that it is protected by NPCs who will shoot troublemakers on sight. Because of that, and in order to take advantage of the shops and resources available in the settlement, you should stow away your weapons when entering (you will be given a 5-second warning to do so after entering). You are allowed to keep rocks, torches, and paddles out, but if you attack anyone while inside of the settlement, it will become hostile to you for five minutes. There is nothing to gain by doing this.
Like other safe zones, the best way to utilize Bandit Camp is as a place to buy and sell goods, rendevous with a group, or simply rest somewhere where you won’t be disturbed or attacked. Naturally, it works well as a staging ground for an assault or raid.

What to do in Bandit Camp
Take Flight: Buy a Helicopter

Scrap Transport Helicopter
- Cost: 1250 Scrap
- HP: 1000
- Fuel: Spawns with 100 Lowgrade, out of 500 maximum, and consumes 30 per minute.
- A full tank will get you 16 minutes of flight time.

- Decay: 8 hours outside, 48 hours inside.
- Passengers: 2 seats in the front, and an empty back that can hold many players.
- Tips:
- You can transport a small boat in this helicopter: simply drive the boat into the back when it is partially underwater.
- If the pilot is killed, the passenger can switch into their seat and restart it.
- Holding Crouch will enable “ground mode,” allowing you to drive the vehicle like a car.
- After it explodes, it can be mined for 3122 Cooked Metal Fragments and 2485 Charcoal using a Salvaged Icepick.

How to Complete Bandit Camp Lumberjack Quest
By talking to the Lumberjack next to the Building Supplies and completing his quest, you can easily acquire a crossbow and hatchet, which can be very useful in the early game. To complete the quest, follow the steps below.
- Talk to the Lumberjack and answer “Yes” to his questions until you are given the prompt to find his “very dear object.”
- His lost bottle will be marked on your map. Head to it and collect it.
- Return the lost bottle to receive a Hatchet.
- Talk to the Lumberjack again to begin the “Collect Wood” mission.
- Using your new hatchet, harvest 2000 Wood.
- Return to the Lumberjack and give him the wood. For this, you will receive a Crossbow with 25 arrows.
- This is the most useful thing you will receive from the Lumberjack, and some players may want to stop here instead of finishing the quest line.
- Talk to the Lumberjack once more to start the “Wildlife Cull” mission.
- Hunt 3 Animals from the choices presented.
- Return to the Lumberjack one last time to receive the Lumberjack Hoodie, a pair of pants, and a Bucket Helmet.
Make sure to spend some time in Bandit Camp to gamble your life savings (and buy a helicopter with your winnings) in your next wipe! Afterward, make sure to check out our other Monument Guides for information on the other monuments.
