    When it gets hot and humid in Charleston, spending time in the water is a must! There are so many great splash pads and waterparks in Charleston that we love! Here’s everything you need to know about these local places to stay cool this spring and summer.

    James Island County Park (James Island)

    • Admission is $2/person or free with a gold pass
    • The splash pad is free (Splash Zone is extra)
    • Great shaded areas, bathrooms on-site, picnic tables, and near the playground
    • The Spray Play Fountain is open March 30 – September 29 from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., except for Wednesdays, when it opens at 12 p.m.

    Wannamaker County Park (North Charleston)

    • Admission is $2/person or free with a gold pass
    • The splash pad is free (Whirling Waters is extra)
    • Great shade, bathrooms onsite, near the playground
    • The Sprinkler is open March 30 – September 29 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., except for Wednesdays, when it opens at 11 a.m.

    Riverfront Park (North Charleston)

    • Free admission
    • Fountain feature for kids to run through right by the river. Playground and bathrooms on site

    Waterfront Park (Downtown Charleston)

    • Free admission (pay for most parking downtown)
    • Two large fountain features kids can play in right by the water, large green space to play, limited shade, no onsite bathrooms

    Ashley River Park (Summerville)

    • This brand-new park boasts not only a splash pad, but also a playground, picnic shelters, zipline, and more!
    • Open from dawn to dusk, daily

    Daniel Island Waterfront Park (Daniel Island)

    • With two public piers with a paddleboard launch and dog ramp, an interactive fountain, waterfront swings, a hammock garden, a children’s play area, condominium and townhouse units, a restaurant, and a café, this park will keep the whole family entertained! The fountain even has color-changing lights!

    Central Park Creek (Goose Creek)

    • 2,600-foot splash pad
    • 10+ barrier-free aquatic play components
    • Splash Creek ensures access for all and safety whether you’re using a wheelchair, walker, stroller, or a toddler just learning to walk.

    Park Circle Playground (North Charleston)

    • The world’s largest inclusive playground includes a new community building with an art/rehearsal studio, flexible event space, a history and archives repository, an artist-in-residence studio and meeting room, an inclusive baseball field, a farmers market pavilion, a nature garden, open green space, and walking trails.
    • Water misters available for cooling (please note that this is not a splash pad!)

    Splash Island Waterpark (Mt. Pleasant)

    • Located at Palmetto Islands County Park
      • Open Weekends Only & Memorial Day: May 18 – June 2. 10 am – 6 pm on Saturdays, 1 pm – 6 pm on Sundays
      • Open Daily June 8 – August 4, Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Saturdays: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Sundays: 1 p.m. – 6 p.m.
      • Open Memorial Day from 10 am – 6 pm
      • General Admission: $10.99 per person
        • $8.99 per person after 3:00 p.m. Monday – Friday only (not including Memorial Day, 4th of July, or Labor Day)
      • Under 48”: $9.99 per person
      • Seniors 60: $7.99 per person
      • Children 2 and under: Free
      • Groups: $9.99 per person (must have a group size of 20 or more people)

    • Open Memorial Day 10 am – 6 pm
    • General Admission: $15.99 per person
      • $11.99 per person after 3:00 p.m. Monday – Friday only (not including Memorial Day, 4th of July, or Labor Day)

    • Open Weekends Only & Labor Day in September: 10 am – 6 pm and on Fridays for Happy Hour: 4:30-6 pm
    • General Admission: starts at $18.00 per person for a 45-minute session, group discounts and 2nd session discounts available
